Account and sync
Do I need an account?
No. Chiply works without an account, and your games stay on your iPhone. You need to sign in only if you want to sync your games.
How do I sign in?
Go to Settings → Account and tap Sign in with Apple. You can share your email or hide it with Apple's “Hide My Email”. Either way works.
The first time you sign in, the games already on this iPhone are added to your account.
If this iPhone synced with a different Apple ID before, Chiply asks what to do:
- Merge data on this iPhone into this account adds the games, players and chip sets on this iPhone to the account you signed in with.
- Replace with this account's data deletes all games, players, chip sets and photos on this iPhone, then downloads the data of this account. This can't be undone.
Tap Cancel to stay signed out and change nothing.
How does sync work?
Sync is part of Chiply Pro. When you are signed in and have Pro, Chiply syncs by itself: after you sign in, a few seconds after you change something, and when you open the app. To sync at once, tap Sync now in Settings → Account.
To get your games on a new iPhone, install Chiply and sign in with the same Apple ID.
Sync needs an internet connection. Without one, Chiply works as usual and syncs later.
Which data is synced?
Your game data: players, chip sets and their values, games, buy-ins, chip counts, settlements and app settings. Counts from photos are synced as numbers.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Photos and live scans stay on your iPhone, even when sync is on. The chips are counted on the iPhone, so no image leaves the device. On a second iPhone you see the counts but not the photos.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Account → Delete account and confirm. This deletes your Chiply account and the copy of your games in the cloud. It can't be undone.
The games on this iPhone stay. To clear them too, use Settings → Reset all data or delete the app. A Chiply Pro purchase stays with your Apple Account, and Restore Purchases brings it back.
Chiply Pro
What does Chiply Pro add?
Unlimited games and sync. Without Pro you can keep up to 5 saved games, and sync is off. Chip counting with the camera is free for everyone.
Pro is a one-time purchase. It is not a subscription.
Pro is free right now. What happens later?
For a limited time, every user has Pro for free, with or without an account. Settings → Chiply Pro shows the date the offer ends.
After that date, your games are never deleted or hidden. If you have more than 5, you can still open them all, but you need Pro to start a new game. Sync pauses, and your synced copy stays on our server until you buy Pro again or delete it.
How do I buy Pro?
Go to Settings → Chiply Pro and tap the buy button. Apple handles the payment. Chiply also offers Pro when you reach the game limit.
You don't need an account to buy Pro. To sync, sign in with Apple as well.
How do I restore Pro on a new iPhone?
Go to Settings → Chiply Pro and tap Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account that bought Pro in the App Store.
How do I ask for a refund?
Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and choose Chiply Pro.
Counting chips
The live scan doesn't start
The live scan uses the camera and ARKit, Apple's augmented reality system, to follow the stacks on the table. Check these things:
- Chiply has access to the camera: iOS Settings → Apps → Chiply → Camera.
- The room has enough light, and the table is in view. Move the phone slowly until Chiply finds the table.
- No other app is using the camera.
The live scan needs a real iPhone camera with ARKit. iPhones with LiDAR (Pro models) get an extra depth cue, but LiDAR is not required. If the live scan is not available, take photos instead. Photo counting works on every supported iPhone.
A count is wrong
Change it by hand: use the stepper next to the color, or tap a stack in the photo to fix that stack. You can also take another photo or scan again. Chiply combines all views of the same stacks. If Chiply is not sure about a color, it marks it “Unsure” and tells you what to check.
Can I count without the camera?
Yes. Type the number of chips of each color on the count screen. No photo is needed.
Does the chip counting cost anything?
No. The counting model runs on your iPhone. It needs no account, no internet connection and no API key, and it is free for everyone.
Your data
How do I delete a game or all data?
- To delete one game, swipe left on it in the game list and tap Delete.
- To delete all data, go to Settings → Reset all data. If you are signed out, this deletes all Chiply data on this iPhone.
If you are signed in, Reset all data gives you two choices:
- Delete everywhere deletes your games on this iPhone and in the Chiply cloud. Your other iPhones delete them at their next sync. This needs an internet connection, and it works without Pro.
- Sign out and delete on this iPhone keeps the copy in the Chiply cloud. Sign in again to get it back.
Photos on this iPhone are deleted in both cases. To delete your account as well, see “How do I delete my account?” above.
How do I export my game history?
Go to Settings → Data and choose Export history (JSON) or Export results (CSV). The file opens in the iOS share sheet, so you can save it or send it anywhere.
What does Chiply need to run?
An iPhone with iOS 18 or later. An internet connection is needed only for sign-in, sync and purchases.
